Not Your Regular Day at the Mall
Congratulations West Vancouver! What a beautiful mall Park Royal has become! It is a "one-of-a-kind indoor/outdoor destination...where visitors can shop, dine, play and so much more!"
I have mapped out a very full day of some of my favourite things to do. AND, they can all be done at Park Royal, north and south!
Starting off at Park Royal North...
9:00am - Park for FREE at parking lot outside of Simon's Department Store. Go to Faubourg Paris Cafe and enjoy an Americano, and a delicious almond croissant. Here is the perfect place to people watch and scroll through the Park Royal web site for special shopping offers for the day.
9:45 am - Shop at BC's only Simons Department Store . They have a unique selection of merchandise, some of which is exclusive to them. One of my favourite brands sold there, for basic fashion essentials, such as skirts and pants, is Contemporaine - a modern, well made apparel which is very reasonably priced. Go upstairs to browse through awesome selection of menswear, which takes up the entire floor. Customer service at this store is excellent by the way and the washrooms are super clean.
11:45 am - Go to Shoppers Drug Mart and stock up on cosmetics and paper products. Make sure I use my PC Optimum card to get points! Take all my shopping back to my car so I do not have to carry around all day.
12:30 pm - Time for some vitamin D, exercise and fresh air. Power walk to the North Side of Park Royal and check out the shoes and designer fashion at Off Saks Fifth Ave. Pop into The Bay just in case I have not found what I'm looking for.
2:00 pm- Power walk back to the South side and make a quick stop at Home Depot to pick up LED light bulbs for home, check out new patio furniture and potted Spring/Summer flower selection. Put away my shopping bags in my car and make my way to the Food Court to buy a smoothie from Booster Juice.
3:00 pm - Relax, close my eyes, drink my smoothie and enjoy a therapeutic foot massage at My Foot Reflexology .
3:45 pm - Walk over to Whole Foods and buy organic fruits and vegetables. Continue window shopping and strolling through the outdoor mall. My favourite stores include Tommy Bahama, Le Chateau, Aerosoles and Urban Barn.
4:45 pm - Saving the best for last, my final shopping stop is Indigo Bookstore. Browse through magazines, explore the fiction novel section, - new releases, staff recommendations, - and of course buy a new book!
6:00 pm - Head back to car with my goodies. Nothing like ending a fabulous day with an excellent meal. There are numerous restaurants to choose from at the mall but one of my favourites is Trattoria (Glowbal Restaurant Group). The food is consistently good and it tastes homemade and very fresh. Ideally, it is a warm Vancouver evening and I can sit outside and enjoy my pasta and a glass of wine. Two entrees I highly recommend - crab and lobster ravioli and spaghetti and signature meatballs. Check out Tratt Tuesday when all their signature pastas are only $13!
8:45 pm - Not quite ready to go home yet. Decide to catch a flick at the newly opened Ciniplex Theatre with all-reclining chairs.
What a crazy, fun shopping day! But honestly, I do not think I could manage it! I have, however, given you a taste of the many things you can do at Park Royal. Of special note, those of you with munchkins 4.5 years and over can drop them off at the jungle gym. Staff there, for a fee, will watch your children while you shop for up to two hours. For dog owners, the outdoor part of the mall is pet friendly and many vendors have water bowls.
In short, Park Royal is a fantastic California type outside mall that is worth a visit! Whether your budget is big or small with a variety of 200 plus shops to choose from you cannot go wrong. And for those who are not fans of the air quality of indoor malls, like me, Park Royal is a breath of fresh air. Move over Metrotown and Tsawassen Mills!
