Live Theatre in Vancouver

Mom’s the Word - Nest ½  Empty! Have you heard of it? Have you been to see it? I went a couple of weeks ago and I definietely recommend it. It’s playing at the Arts Club on Granville Island, until July 20th. My ticket was very reasonably priced ($55), but there’s also less expensive options.

I went with a group of friends and we made an evening of it. Before the play we went to The Sandbar for a drink and bite to eat. The crab cakes were delicious! As show time approached we made our way to the theatre -a two minute walk! I’m not going to ‘spill-the-tea’, on all that happens in this play (there’s nothing worse than a spoiler!), but here’s an overview so you can decide if you’d be interested in going.

Mom’s the Word - Nest ½  Empty (the third in a collection of live performances) is put on by five women who tell us what they feel and think about their lives as they’re moving into the trials of middle age. Their children are now grown, their marriages have evolved and their bodies are not the same as they once were.

The actresses use their personal history to share their stories and some very embarrassing details! They are funny - very funny! - but there are also some very serious moments in the play. After all, life isn’t all fun and games.

I thoroughly enjoyed the play. It was honest, funny and thought provoking. I do hope you enjoy it and I’d love to hear your thoughts once you’ve seen it
