Vancouverites Love Zero Waster
One of the many things that’s great about Vancouver is the movement towards zero waste both at home and in business. I know in our home we barely have one small bag of garbage a week – everything else is recycled.
So you can imagine how much we love the local, independent shop, ‘The Soap Dispensary’ on Main Street. They’re definitely ‘zero waste’ supporters.
The Soap Dispensary supplies soaps, cleaners, personal care items, DIY products and food items. But they’re different from similar stores because they’re a dedicated refill shop. When you go to The Soap Dispensary you either bring your own reusable packing containers or you purchase some in the store and then bring them back over and over again to refill.
Not only are they dedicated to zero waste but The Soap Dispensary strives to use pure, local, organic, fair trade and biodegradable products.
One word of warning – if you go on the weekend have patience. It can be a very busy place!
We’d also like to point out that in the Spring and Autumn, The Soap Dispensary offers workshops after hours. Check out their schedule if you’re interested in learning how to make (among other things) candles, bath or beauty products, healthy food or self-care products.
The Soap Dispensary is located at 3718 Main Street (between 22nd and 23rd avenues) and is open from 10:00-6:00 seven days a week.
