Vancouver Ice Cream

What a gorgeous summer we have had this year Vancouver! I have always been a sun worshiper and lover of summer activities, but as I grow older, I find myself seeking out more and more ways to escape the heat. Usually this includes air conditioned malls, cool coffee shops, a community centre gym or the public library. This summer, however, I discovered a sweet and refreshing refuge- an ice cream shop on the west side of Vancouver called La Glace. They serve fresh housemade Artisan ice cream and it is absolutely delicious and delightfully decadent. In my opinion it is the best ice cream in Vancouver!

My favourite flavours so far are the Ganache- dark Valrhona chocolate and the strawberry peppercorn but make sure to check their website as their unique flavours change monthly. (Daily selection varies as well and these are always posted diligently on their instagram and facebook page). Their generous scoop with a meringue kiss on top is always enough for me but for those who can’t decide, the “Flights” are a sample dish of multiple petite scoops. A friendly staff recently informed me that a pumpkin flavoured ice cream is coming soon so I am looking forward to that!

La Glace is more than just an ice cream shop. Their Parisian decor including mint green wallpaper with peacocks, vases with fresh flowers and lit candles provides a welcoming and inviting environment, as does their comfortable seating inside (with A/C) and out. It is definitely a Vancouver gem worth visiting and I look forward to spending time there in the cooler seasons as well as they also offer hot beverages and enticing house made baked goods (including a French biscuit I was eyeing the other day!)

This rich delicious ice cream is definitely worth the calories but I have admittedly overindulged during these hot summer months! See you at the gym!
