A Walk in the Park or.....
Vancouver is a beautiful city with many beautiful places to explore. As mentioned in previous posts, we love to walk. Walking is one of the best ways to see a city and stay beautiful inside and out. Walking calms your mind and strengthens your muscles but isn’t jarring on your joints. And it’s so versatile it’s easy to fit into your schedule. You can walk alone or with a friend. You can take a leisurely stroll or head out on a power walk. You can go for 10 minutes or for several hours. The choice is yours.
As Autumn approaches make a commitment to add more walking to your weekly schedule. This time of year the weather can be spectacular or so, so dreary! Just be prepared and dress for the weather. Get out and explore your neighbourhood - and then branch out and explore new ones.
Some of our favourite places to walk are: the Arbutus Greenway, Pacific Spirit Park, Spanish Banks and Kits Beach all the way around to English Bay . But we’re always ready to explore new places. Let us know where you love to walk and we’ll get out there and give it a try.
Top tips for enjoying your walk.:
* Have shoes that fit!! Favourtie choice right now – Vessi sneakers. Comfortable, made in Vancouver and completely waterproof! A definite must in Vancouver.
* Dress in layers – especially this time of year. The temperature can fluctuate from quite cool to quite warm. Be prepared and you’ll enjoy your time outdoors much more.
* Take a bottle of water. Even if you’re out for a stroll and not working up a sweat, take some water with you. We haven’t regretted it yet!
* Keep a small notebook and while you’re walking (or after) make note of anything of interest. You never know when you might want to recommend a good walk to someone!
